Achieve Quad Cities is a proud sponsor of the Spark! Learning Lab. The exhibit, which officially opened to the public on Saturday, February 26, is free with museum admission.
The new addition to the Putnam will allow students to explore careers with a hands-on approach. The first year of the exhibit will feature Allied healthcare fields by utilizing state-of-art technology and real, medical equipment. The room features a modern look and Houses Touchscreen Computers, SMARTboards, Classroom Cubed, Microeye Discovery Microscopes, QR Codes and iPads.
Each coming year, The Spark! Learning Lab will feature a different career focus. Designed for students in 5th grade and up, the Spark! Learning Lab helps students to start thinking about their futures.

The Augustana Historical Society will hold its Spring Meeting on Tuesday April 1, in Augustana College's Wilson Faculty Center, 3750 7th Avenue in Rock Island. A reception opens the meeting at 6:00 pm, with the program beginning at 6:30 pm. This year's program will be led by AHS board member and former Quad Cities Poet Laureate Dick Stahl, presenting "Three Poetic Constructions Under One Hard Hat." Plans continue to move forward for the brand-new Creative Arts Academy of the Quad-Cities through the Davenport Community School District. Auditions for dance and theater programs will be April 25-26 and May 2. Auditions for music, visual arts, and communication and mediat arts programs will be April 25-26. The first cohort will have about 50 sixth-graders and 25 high school juniors and seniors. Click here for more information.

The annual conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and features 18 different breakout sessions for parents, childcare providers and childhood professionals. Topics include assessing and building oral language, the autism spectrum, drum circle rhythms, early math, home environments, physical and creative movement, preventing behavior problems, 3-D art, using non-fiction literature and many other topics related to early childhood development.
The registration fee is $25, which includes three workshops, a light breakfast and a free children's book. All conference participants will receive a training certificate. CEU/CPDU credits and/or college credit course through Black Hawk College are available for an additional fee.

A dozen newly designated Masters Teachers will be honored. A reception will be held at the iWireless Center on May 2nd. Reception begins at 5:30 pm followed by dinner at 6:30 pm and the awards presentation at 7:40 pm. Tickets to the awards banquet cost $42 per person.
